How much will a defense attorney cost you?

There are several factors that influence the cost of hiring an attorney.

Cost is greatly affected by the amount of time that is required to complete a case. The number of hearings, court appearances, motions filed, discovery exchanged, negotiations and evidence to review increases with the complexity of the case.

Most criminal and civil defense attorneys charge an hourly rate. Depending on their level experience that cost can vary. Typically, an attorney will charge between $200-$400 per hour.


Consult

Initial Consultation

Most attorneys will not give you a consultation over the phone, they want to meet you in person. At a typical initial visit, you will bring in whatever documents you have and the attorney will determine if he or she wants to handle your case. A typical cost for this initial visit is between $150-$300. Usually, the consultfee will go towards your case but is non-refundable if your case is refused.

For lawyers who have found their niche in a certain area of law, they may have flat fees for certain types of cases. For these attorneys, they have already pre-determined the amount of time and expenses that will be required handle your case from start to finish.

Before an attorney will begin work on your case, they will require you to pay for some hours in advance; this is called a retainer. The retainer can also be used to cover hard costs the attorney will need to pay for. Typically, an attorney will ask between a $2000 and $5000 retainer.

Our parent company

The U.S. & Texas LawShield® organization was founded in 2009 by a group of attorneys seeking to defend responsible gun owners from legal injustices occurring in the legal system. After witnessing first hand the devastating legal consequences brought on by an act of self-defense, the group vowed to create a one-of-a-kind membership program that would be both affordable and efficacious. Their motto and legacy, “Legal Defense for Self Defense” has made an impact on the lives of the thousands of Americans they have defended.

After years of navigating the court system in defense of our members from acts of self-defense, it became evident that a need existed for the defense of Hunters’ rights. We found that wildlife laws were much more complex than ordinary laws, leaving sportsmen without protection and representation. Thus, the idea was born to offer sportsmen quality legal defense for unintentional wildlife violations.

Our purpose

We believe that sportsmen are the largest contributors to the conservation of our land, wildlife and natural resources. In this day and age, sportsmen are an endangered species as they face opposition from both animal rights groups and law makers looking to put stricter laws in place for hunting. We vow to do our part in the fight, by preserving our American heritage through the defense of sportsmen.
